Following a rigorous audit, the University of Eldoret has officially received the ISO 9001:2015 certification from the Kenya Bureau of Standards. Prof. Thomas Cheruiyot, our Vice-Chancellor, accepted the certificate from Mr. Vincent Cheruiyot, the KEBS North Rift Regional Manager, on behalf of the KEBS Managing Director Mrs. Esther Ngari, in the presence of the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Education, Hon. Julius Migos Ogamba.
The 3rd University of Eldoret Strategic Plan 2024-2029 was officially launched by the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Hon. Julius Migos Ogamba, EGH, in a landmark event that underscored the University’s commitment to excellence in fulfilling its core mandate of teaching, research, innovation and community service.
The University of Eldoret (UoE) is proud to announce its active participation in the PROSPER project; Promoting Opportunities and Strengthening Partnerships for Enhanced Internationalisation between Europe and Kenya, a collaborative initiative aimed at elevating the global standing of Kenyan higher education institutions. Coordinated by Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, this project aligns with Kenya's Vision 2030 and focuses on capacity building, strategic optimisation, and the strengthening of academic partnerships.
Key Objectives of the PROSPER Project:
The Outreach Centre (OC) in collaboration with Core Health and Wealth (CH&W) participated in the launch of I-FISH (Increasing Food and Income Security for Households) at Kibisi Gardens in Bungoma County on 23rd January 2025. Besides launching the project, farmers who had qualified through a biogas production course and had successfully installed them in their homes were also awarded.
A research team led by Prof. Masahiro Kajihara, Associate Professor at the International Institute of Zoonosis Control, Hokkaido University, paid a courtesy visit to Prof. Phillip Raburu, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation at the University of Eldoret.
Prof. Kajihara has been actively engaged in zoonotic disease research, particularly in Africa. His work focuses on vector-borne zoonotic pathogens in Zambia, contributing to the understanding of diseases transmitted from animals to humans.
The University of Eldoret is proud to celebrate one of its own, Tony Ojuok Okeyo, for excelling in the prestigious Constitution and Reform Education Consortium (CRECO) Essay Writing Competition. The nationwide competition, held in November last year, brought together university students from across the country to explore critical themes on digital democracy, technological solutions to misinformation, and policy regulations.
The Hult Prize, often referred to as the “Nobel Prize for Students,” challenges university students worldwide to develop business solutions that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG’s). On February 26th 2025, the University of Eldoret proudly joined several other global University campuses and hosted its first-ever On-Campus Program-an extraordinary opportunity for students to showcase their innovative ideas and passion for positive change.
University of Eldoret in partnership with the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) through the support of MasterCard Foundation is implementing the program “Transforming Africa’s Higher Education Institutions for Economic Growth and Development (TAGDev 2.0)”. The 10 year program will provide scholarships to students across Africa, focusing on training competent and highly skilled African youth, developing the capacity of African universities to train and nurture graduates with relevant skills effectively.
The Directorate of Gender Equity and Diversity, in collaboration with the University Health Clinic, conducted a one-day GBV Training Workshop on February 14, 2025, at the University of Eldoret NS-3 Conference Hall. The event targeted UESO student council members, class representatives, and halls of residence leaders, with high student participation. The training was facilitated by Kingdom Excellence Assembly (KEA), a humanitarian organization of young medical doctors, including Dr. Ian Mwangi, Dr. Frank Ndirang’u, Dr. Esther Wanjama, and others.
