Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) and the University of Eldoret (UoE) have joined together to contribute to the government's goal of planting 15 billion trees by 2032 to ensure environment sustainability. A delegation from KNH Climate Change committee unit visited the University to discuss the collaborative tree-planting initiative.
Acknowledging that the first cohort of CBC students will be transitioning to the University in 2029, the CBC Preparedness Committee, under the leadership of Dr. Hoseah Kiplagat (Dean, School of Education), in conjunction with the Commission of Education (CUE) and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) hosted a 2-day training on Competency-Based Education (CBE) on December 16th and 17th, 2024. The training was officially opened by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Thomas Cheruiyot, who was represented by Prof. Wilson K. Ng’etich, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration & Finance).

Lawrence Mwangi Kairegi, from the School of Engineering, is the 2024 University of Eldoret Valedictorian.
Lawrence joined University of Eldoret in 2019 to pursue a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical and Production Engineering. Lawrence graduated as the best Valedictorian, having attained a first-class honor's of 80.2%, the highest recorded ever since the University’s inception.
The Kenya Innovation Week Africa Edition at the Edge Conference Center, Nairobi, was a significant milestone for the innovation and startup ecosystem in Africa. Bringing together innovators, policymakers, researchers, educators, and industry leaders, this event provided a platform to share ideas, showcase groundbreaking solutions, and explore strategies to scale innovations to benefit society. Representing the University of Eldoret was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (PRE) and two students to showcase their innovations/prototypes as detailed in Table 1.
The TAGDev 2.0 Implementation team led by the Team Leader Prof. Julius Ochuodho handed over to the University Management led by Prof. Nicholas Makau (Ag. Vice-Chancellor) the instruments of the program during the colourful launch.

The program “Transforming African Agricultural Universities to Meaningfully Contribute to Africa’s Growth and Development” - TAGDev 2.0 was officially launched at a colourful ceremony witnessed by the University Management leadership, University Deans and Directors, the Consortium partners, stakeholders and the TAGDev 2.0 Implementation team.
Dr. Derrick Samuels, Ph.D, the President and Founder of the Derrick Samuels Leadership Institute in USA paid a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Thomas Cheruiyot. Dr. Samuels’ visit was the start of the ongoing strategic partnership between the Institute and UoE in the area of training facilitation, consultation and research and development. Dr.
