University Represented During The 3rd EAC Regional STI Conference

In order to meet our Vision and Mission as we work towards transforming ourselves to become an International Center of excellence, the University was well represented by the Director Research and Innovation Prof. Lizzy A. Mwamburi during the 3rd Edition of the East Africa Community regional STI Conference which was held between 6th-8th March 2024 at the Sarova Panafric Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya.  The STI Conference themed: ‘Accelerating Development and Diffusion of STI Solutions for a Resilient East Africa’ was opened by Prof.

Prof. Julius Onyango Ochuodho

Prof. Julius Onyango Ochuodho is a Professor of Agriculture (Seed Science) at the University of Eldoret, a lecturer in Plant Pathology and Seed Science & Technology. He is an academician, researcher, innovation incubation specialist, and a champion in resource mobilization.

He holds Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Science (University of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa), Master of Science in Plant Pathology (University of Nairobi), Postgraduate Diploma in Seed Pathology (DGISP, Copenhagen, Denmark) and a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (University of Nairobi).

Celebrating Excellent Service: The Retirement of Prof. Calebo Obiero Otieno Othieno, Department of Soil Science

Prof. Caleb Otieno Othieno retired from active service on the 18th of December, 2023. Colleagues and students gathered at the Outreach & International Students Centre of Eldoret to celebrate him and showered him with tributes on his industrious career as well as congratulatory and wishes of goodwill on his retirement.

University Students Excel in Mobile App Development Competition by KNATCOM

The three-week intensive training and competition workshop on development of mobile apps by the Kenya National Commission for UNESCO (KNATCOM) came to a close on 16th February 2024, with University of Eldoret Student shining. The inter-university workshop involved 50 brilliant students from University of Eldoret and Moi University working in teams to develop mobile apps geared towards solving various societal challenges and contribute to the realization of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Health Services Department Launches Medical Laboratory at Town Campus

The Health Services Department has launched Medical Laboratory Services at the Eldoret Town Campus. The is part of the repositioning and transformation of the Health Services Centre by upgrading the services are offered at the Town Campus clinic to the University students and staff. With the enhancement of the services there is a reduction in the time spent and cost incurred by University students and staff who previously had to seek medical laboratory services from other medical service providers.

STEM Mentorship at Butere Girls High School by the School of Science

On Sunday, February 11th 2024, a team from the School of Science, Dr. Becky Aloo, Dr. Emily Chemoiwa and Dr. Argwings Otieno visited Butere Girls’ High School for a STEM mentorship session aimed at empowering the Science Club students and marking the International Day for Girls and Women in Science. The team was joined by Ms. Marystella Injete, a former student of the University of Eldoret, who is  the current Young Ambassador for the American Society for Microbiology and a mentor for Young Scientists Kenya (YSK).
