University of Eldoret Students Conclude their 2025 Millennium Fellowship with ‘Project Green’ Tree-Planting Initiative

As part of the semester-long Millennium Fellowship journey, the Millennium Fellows University of Eldoret Class of 2025 have been implementing ‘Project Green’, an initiative focused on turning underutilized areas at the University of Eldoret into green, vibrant spaces. The project aimed to plant 100 trees and promote long-term environmental stewardship on campus. On the 18th November 2025, the fellows carried out a major field activity under Project Green, which involved planting trees across identified barren spots on campus. The fellows joined in preparing the ground, planting the seedlings, and learning proper tree care practices. This activity contributed directly to our target of planting 100 trees while creating awareness of environmental responsibility among participants.

Throughout the fellowship period, we have been participating in structured training sessions covering key areas such as:
Social impact leadership – understanding how to design and lead community-centered initiatives.
Project planning and execution – learning how to organize activities, manage resources, and track progress.
Community engagement – strategies for mobilizing volunteers and involving different stakeholders.
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – especially SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land), which guide the focus of our project.

These training sessions have shaped how we plan, implement, and evaluate Social Impact Projects. The University of Eldoret Millennium Fellows selected for the 2025 cohort were as follows;
