Commission for University Education Sensitization Workshop

In preparation for the first cohort of CBC students transiting to Universities in 2029, the Commission for University Education hosted a workshop to sensitize Public and Private Universities Deans of School of Education on the Implementation of Guidelines for the Review of Teacher Education Programmes (TEP’s) of Universities in Kenya.

Dr. Hosea Kiplagat, Dean School of Education, attended the 2-day workshop which was officially opened by Prof. Chacha N. Chacha, Board Chairman of the Commission for University Education, who delivered his keynote speech ‘Ushering the new dawn for University TEP’s in Kenya.’ 

The workshop had trainers from the Commission for University Education, Teachers Service Commission, Ministry of Education (State Department for Higher Education & Research), TVETA, and Kenya Institute for Curriculum Development who sensitized the Deans of Education in the following areas:

  1. Overview of Institutional Standards, Standards for Physical Resources, and Standards for ODeL 
  2. Overview of Standard for an Academic Programme
  3. Overview of Standards for a University Library
  4. Curriculum Reforms in Kenya: Implications for Legal and Policy Frameworks
  5. Teacher Professional Standards: Implications for TEP’s in Universities
  6. Implication of CBC in Basic Education: Implication for TEP’s in Universities
  7. Implication of CBC in TVET: Implication for TEP’s in Universities
  8. Overview of the Guidelines for Review of Curricula for TEP’s
  9. Strategies for the Implementation of the Guidelines for the Review of Curricula for TEP’s
