University of Eldoret Conducts ISO 9001:2015 1st Surveillance Audit

University of Eldoret conducted the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System 1st Surveillance Audit at the Nairobi Liaison Office and the Main Campus from 7th - 9th April, 2026. Prior to this, the University had been re-certified to the same Standard in 2024 for a 3-year cycle, this was a clear indication that our Quality Management System was effective. The purpose of this Surveillance Audit therefore to was to determine the level of implementation of this Standard.

This audit was conducted by the Kenya Bureau of Standards Auditors namely: Ms. Katherine Were (Team Leader), Ms. Dorcas Munyi (Auditor) and Mr. Benson Ngure (Auditor Trainee) in the selected quality units as per the audit plan. The objectives of this audit were:

  1. To determine continued conformity of the Quality Management System to ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
  2. To determine the ability of the Quality Management System to ensure the client meets applicable statutory, regulatory and contractual requirements.
  3. To determine the effectiveness of the Quality Management System to ensure the client achieves specified objectives.
  4. As applicable, to identify the areas of potential improvement of the Quality Management System.

During the three days, the KEBS team was able to audit all the ten (10) units outlined in the Audit Plan. In their exit report, the auditors confirmed that the objectives of the audit had been met and highlighted the positive findings, non-conformities and areas of improvement. The recommendation for continued Certification will be granted subsequent to submission of the Corrective Action Plan (CAP).
