University of Eldoret Engineer in France for Elite Coaches Training

It is abundantly clear that the triumph of our female athletes is intricately linked to the availability of discerning role models of the same gender, who play an indispensable role in guiding them on their journey. This was precisely exemplified at the coaching camp in Miramas, France, where Mayor Frederick Vigouroux graciously welcomed a contingent of coaches from Elgeyo Marakwet to enhance their proficiency. This initiative was undertaken in partnership with the County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet under the stewardship of Governor Wisley Rotich.

Eng. Stella Kiptoo (extreme right) from the University of Eldoret, School of Engineering, was among the elite coaches who participated in the training in France. She is instrumental in the revitalization of the University of Eldoret as a hub of sporting excellence. The University of Eldoret offers training facilities for all athletes in the region.

The lady coaches who attended the training included;

  1. Ruth Bundotich, a reknown coach in Kamwosor. She runs a camp known as Kamwosor Youth Athletics. Among success stories from her camp is the women's World Record holder, Agnes Jebet.
  2. Madam Joan Kosgei, the tactician at Singore Girls. She is a former African under 20 medalist in 5,000m. She is passionate about the girl-child training and has been doing great mentorship at Singore.
  3. Madam Irene Kosgei, a sports icon from Uswo, is part of this stellar team. She serves as the Secretary of Kenya Primary Schools Sports Association(EMC).
  4. Nancy Jebet, a 1500m gold medalist in Beijing Olympics and 2010 Diamond League champion. She also holds the record of being the second woman to win gold for Kenya in the Olympics after the legendary Pamela Jelimo in the middle distance races.

University of Eldoret aspires to witness an increasing number of young women shattering records, not in Kenya but also on the international stage.

Well done Eng. Stella!
