The Swearing In Ceremony of the 12th Students’ Council took place on Friday 4th April, 2025. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Steven Anditi, the University Senior Legal Officer. A total of 27 newly elected School Representatives and 7 (seven) members of the Students’ Council were sworn in.
Prof. Godfrey Netondo, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Students Affairs), who represented Prof. Thomas Cheruiyot (Vice-Chancellor), extended his congratulations to the newly elected students leaders and appreciated them for conducting a peaceful election. He emphasized the pivotal role they play as the intermediaries between the University Management and the student community, underscoring the importance of fostering a harmonious relationship with the Management and refraining from engaging in divisive activities. Stressing the significance of transparency and clarity in their duties, he urged them to diligently serve the student community and collaborate closely with the university administration through consultation and teamwork to bolster university programmes and activities.
In his inaugural speech, the UESO Chair, Mr. Collins Kimutai, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve and underscored his vision for progress, unity and innovation. He assured the management his dedication to nurturing excellence and driving transformative growth.
Present during the inauguration ceremony was Dr. Lelei Kiboiy (Dean of Students), Dr. Javan Were (Returning Officer of the 12th S.C. elections), Prof. Victor Kimeli (ICT Director), Insp. Victor Tekwenyi (Principal Security Officer), Dr. Chepkonga (Senior Assistant Dean of Students), colleagues from the Dean of Students’ office, and the team from the Students’ Electoral Commission under the guidance of the Chair, Mr. Paul Matsiko.
