University of Eldoret and the County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet signed an MoU on Monday, April 30th, 2018 at the Office of the Governor, Iten.
The team from the County was led by the Governor, H.E. Eng. Alex Tolgos and included H.E. Wisley Rotich – Deputy Governor, the County Secretary and County Executive Committee Members.
The UoE team was led by Prof. Pius Kipkemboi – the Ag. Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration & Finance) who was representing the Vice-Chancellor, the MoU Coordinator and Dean, School of Environmental Studies, Prof. Vincent Sudoi and the Senior Legal officer, Mr. Steven Anditi.
Common Goals and Objectives of the collaboration
The common goals and mandates of the parties will form the basis of a synergistic partnership that will benefit the communities in the county. The two institutions have common objectives in the area of community development, scientific research, capacity and institutional building, and will complement each other’s efforts. The collaboration will also strengthen the academic-industry linkage in pursuit of academic excellence in national development. The specific objectives of the MOU shall include:
- Community and Rural Development
- Education and Training
- Environmental Management and Conservation
- Capacity Building
- Research and Innovation
- Extension and Outreach
- Health and Sports
- Knowledge Management
In attendance was the Ag. ILPC Director, Prof. Violet Mugalavai and Ms. Beatrice Kageni.
