The University of Eldoret Trade Fair, a 3 day event, was held between September 21st – 23rd, 2017 at the University Pavillion. The event showcased products and services in the agribusiness industry including companies in the production and distribution of farm inputs, the actual crop/animal production and companies involved in processing and distribution of farm produce. Additionally financial and insurance institutions were present.
The Agribusiness Trade Fair is a major event in the University calender and is our major Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity. It has been the source of information and training that is extended to our farmers and industry players.
During the 3 days of the Agribusiness event the University hosts farmers and interested partners from the neighboring counties whose main aim is to learn more about new technological innovations as well as interact with the industry partners in the agribusiness industry.
The theme for this years’ Agribusiness Trade Fair was:
“Enhancing Technology and Trade in Agriculture for National Growth”
There were 3 sectors of the trade fair;
- Agricultural Demonstration plots
- Sponsors and Exhibitors arena
- Farm Machinery
On September 21st, 2017, the guest of honor was the Uasin Gishu County CEC for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries.
September 22nd, 2017, we were privileged to host the CS Finance Henry Rotich and CS Agriculture Willy Bett. In attendance was the Uasin Gishu Senator, Hon. Prof. Margaret Kamar who was the Principal of this institution when it was Chepkoilel Campus - a constituent college of Moi University, the MP of Moiben Constituency, Hon Silas Rotich, the Managing Director Kenya Animals Genetics Research Centre – Dr David Kios, the Managing Director Kenya Dairy Board – Mrs. Margaret Kibogy, the Director General / CEO of KALRO Dr. Eliud K. Kireger, Managing Director New KCC Limited Mr. Nixon Sigey.
September 23rd, 2017, the Guest of Honour was the Chairman of the UoE Council, Dr. David I. Ojakaa.
The University of Eldoret team was led by our Chancellor, Amb. Prof. Judith Bahemuka, the Chairman of Council, Dr. David I. Ojakaa, the University Council members as well as our Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Teresa Akenga.
We hosted 15 key sponsors and 50 exhibitors.
