First RCE Thematic Conference


First RCE Thematic Conference: Towards Achieving the SDGs organized by UNU and Okayama University (5th-7th December 2017)

University of Eldoret through RCE-North Rift participated in the first thematic conference towards achieving the SDGs at Okayama Convention centre, Okayama Japan, in December 2017.

RCE NORTH RIFTH currently coordinated by school of Environmental studies, University of Eldoret promotes Environmental Education for sustainable development and is affiliated to United Nations University (UNU). The Dean School of environmental studies Prof. Vincent Sudoi coordinates RCE-North Rift and recently attended a conference in Japan.

Objectives and achievements of the conference were as follows:

  • The conference discussed and launched strategies and activities in the fields of biodiversity, climate change and sustainable consumption and production.
  • Received presentations and reports from the Global Regional Centers of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development.
  • Made substantial contributions and tangible commitments by (RCEs) on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Global Action Programme on Education for Sustainable Development.
